Best days of college! so far...;)

The first few weeks of college life at Rutgers, or rather a month now, have been so much ____. I can't really describe it in one word yet but after a month of balancing my time between work, fun, basketball, networking, family time, and studying, I feel like I have gotten to know who I really am, (only a tiny bit more).

I'm really fortunate to have made great friendships with JHsu and his group of friends. (As a commuter, I felt kinda lonely during the first few weeks of school... I almost began to think I wouldn't be able to make perfect friends as I did in high school, but this group of eccentric kids (eccentric in a GREAT way) made me think otherwise :).

Now that I think about it...our friendship (me and JHsu) really started when we were both waiting to ask a question to our MATLAB teacher and I let him go first. Due to unfortunate circumstances, we waited for 30 minutes before asking our questions; that's when we kinda-sorta became friends. haha. (By the way, I have Matlab 2011b on my USB so if anyone wants to install it, contact me!)

JHsu dorms with this guy named JZhu. JZhu is a super genius, hard worker, super friendly, super clean baller who makes life interesting, (well everyone does to a certain extent...). When I'm at his dorm, he's usually watching a series of Friends videos or helping people with stuff. Him and SSenko are in my macroeconomics class and boy is that class interesting. We watch fun videos for the first 5 minutes of class, like this one about the history of money.

SSenko is this Korean dude who's simply a great friend. He used more than half of his guest meal swipes on me to get me to eat with everyone in the dining hall, and we pretty much did a lot of things together so far at Rutgers. Hopefully that trend will continue as we continue our adventure.

While walking between classes today and organizing thoughts in my head, I started to think about the people I've associated with thus far in college. So I went to the SERC lounge to lay down on a couch and suddenly I started to feel very fortunate/grateful to be friends with JHsu's group. And then I started to wonder if I'd been an inconvenience to them for the past couple of weeks...and many unusual thoughts came to mind. I think the reason I began to ask myself a bunch of 'what if' questions is because I lack a sense of identity still. Hopefully college will fix that soon. The only remedy I thought of for the short term to get me out of the 'what if' world was to do physics problems, and so I did. On a side note: Thanks Dr. J for making physics so easy and interesting!

Will's Fall 2011 Schedule

This is my Schedule and the Operating Status of Rutgers University with building and map information. I'm currently interested in entering the Electrical Engineering field. Also take a look at Rutgers Learning Center and the Math and Science Learning Center. The Library and Student Center hours would be good to know too. And yes, I am talking to myself.

Just Do it.

If you want to do something productive, then just do it. Your time will be better spent that way. Rather than squandering your time, look ahead and work for a better tomorrow. Skip the hours spent monitoring Facebook, looking for music, and watching news. You're time is worth more; it's price-less. Improve yourself: Learn a language or a skill, spend time with the family, build stronger relationships, go on an adventure. Be fearless. Make yourself peerless, meaning unrivaled and please figuratively walk blinded-ly and let your heart guide you. And...

Enjoy your time here.
Live long and prosper.

First-timer in the bathroom.

I found myself simultaneously brushing my teeth with my light blue electronic tooth brush, blasting "Fetish", (by the Far East Movement), on my phone, and popping to the beat at 12:30 in the morning. This was a first.

While I was popping, I realized I was getting very creative with my dance moves. My imagination of my moves became insanely clear and my focus level was high while hearing the electronic buzzing sound of my tooth brush.

Initially, I played music to limit my time in the bathroom; I tried to spend less than four minutes, (about the average length of one song), grooming myself and brushing my teeth. This idea worked well. I began having 'shower epiphanies' while brushing my teeth!
Why only four minutes? I'm not sure. You can't spend too much time grinding up the dance floor.

Determined

Right now something is bothering me. Besides my endless supply of homework, it's my attitude right now. You need to work William and don't let anyone else tell you you shouldn't be working or makes you feel bad for working yourself to the bone. You have a burning desire to succeed and nobody can unlit that flame. If they say Hi, you say bye. No, not really, don't do that. Simply tell them you can't work now in a respectful way/tone.

School is for school work and to socialize. Try to talk to a person you usually don't talk to during your school day and make them an acquaintance! You got this; girls/boys, it doesn't matter. And don't forget to be a good friend to your friends. Never ever forget.

Harsh's house! + the rest of the day

This school day was very productive! I wish everyday could be like today...or even better.
I woke up at 6am, washed my face, read a chapter of Predictably Irrational (I learned bad things happen when you mix social norms with market norms...terrible things; you're social relationships may never be fixed), and was ready to go to school. There was so much traffic though, and my dad decided to drop me off at the small entrance in the 9/10 building adjacent to Hoes lane. That short path wasn't shoveled so we had to walk through 4 inches of snow for a minute...it was wet and freezing.
Let's see, I didn't sleep in Physics, Computer Science, English, Calculus...I didn't sleep at all during school! I imagined my mom was monitoring me at all times during the school day and that technique enabled me the get through the day despite the fact I received 5 hours of sleep that night. :).

Talking about school with myself:
I was able to finish my Chapter 25 work in Physics! I kind of don't understand Computer Science and English, and midterms are around the corner, (in two weeks)! I must read the book, learn some methods and interfaces, and practice programming more for Computer Science. I need to come in for extra help in English; The Waste Land poem is very confusing...I need to get my facts straight quick too because there's an essay on the poem due Feb 4th. Human Anatomy is interesting and I must memorize the bones or else, "You'll fail the next test", according the Jen. I can't let that happen! Calculus seems easier now because now I'm doing the homework. My grades during this 2nd marking period have suffered a lot due to my laziness, that will change soon.

After school, I went to the mandatory meeting for FBLA and was informed of mind-boggling news. I'll need to work all the problems out somehow soon because our reports are due on Feb 15th! After FBLA, I ran to the Science League testing place to take the Physics C Jan. test. I scored pretty darn low, (a 40), while Alex Loh scored a 64. My goal for the Feb. test is to score at least a 64!

Science Olympiad is tomorrow and Harsh and I have yet to refine our mousetrap car! I went to Harsh's house to work. We looked at cars on Youtube and the most impressive one we've seen stopped on its own and only used one mousetrap! We're trying to make our car move 3 meters forward and then 7 meters in the reverse direction. We came across many obstacles and ... I had to leave at 10pm before we finished. :(. Harsh, it's up to you!
Harsh also treated me to some grub! I ate 3 Dosas topped with spicy Chinese spice-sauce thing, plus some Sprite; it was delicious. I'm going to try and make some at home soon! :0

When I got home, I started working on my Berkeley 'verification documents'...I need to verify that I attended MHCS, (Chinese School) to receive my admission decision from UC Berkeley. I added more 'proof' than what was required, (just a report card); I also included copies of my old school pictures, a picture of my art trophy, and a printout of the school site. Haha.

My day ended there. PeaceoutMan. or Woman. ;)

Oh, there's another thing. I heard this song and it made me think a bit. The end.
