Pick yourself up

To pick yourself up means to recover from a problem you are facing.

The problem I am facing is a recurrent issue which I have not been able to fix yet. It causes me to procrastinate, to periodically lose motivation, and to blame others. The latter-most result is synonymous to making excuses. And after some reflecting I realized I tell myself this line quite frequently:
"This problem prevents me from doing work."
The self became a problem.

Now, I know the problem has always lied within me. But this realization of myself showed me I am stuck in a negative feedback loop. For a while, I thought my mental blocks were caused by external factors. Below, I list the recent external "excuses", and also prolonged "excuses", that I thought were not allowing me to achieve my goals:

- dependence on family; can't leave the house
- chores around the house
- constant distractions at home
- no independence
Et cetera

By constantly telling myself that these problems prevent me from doing my work, they have become internal "excuses". The constant reminder that I am in a poor environment, that I am achieving less due to my poor disposition, contributes to the negative feedback loop.

Only a gradual change-in-attitude paradigm shift would enable me to exit the negative feedback loop, and a simple way to spark that change is by setting an if-condition. Overall, I want to change from being a person with an external locus of control to a person with a more internal locus of control. This will hopefully increase my motivation, reduce procrastination, and blame others less.

note: I understand I have it better than most people in the World. I write this as a note-to-myself, in case I get mentally stuck and have trouble seeing the World in a positive light. When in doubt, find some alone time, or call out your friends. Be prepared and plan accordingly, so you can be the change you wish to see in the world.

Summer and a hint of Autumn

Quick Glance:
Summer classes, AT&T internship, two weeks of summer fun, ZEDRANT+JJW

Thorough Look:
Although the quick glance sounds really busy, it was a lot of fun. I met a handful of great people, well almost everyone *cough*Damanprettyboy*cough*, and had great professors. I still have Si Chao's C++ book though...let this be a reminder for me to return it one day. MJ Gentile's E&M physics class was great too; he was very knowledgeable of many E&M applications in the field. Three days after the last class, hour commutes to and from AT&T became a daily routine from July9~Aug17. I again learned a whole lot and met several cool folks; I say 'folks' because the median aged AT&T colleague I met was like 50. I'm a master at IT, racking units, and Korn Shell script now; I'm so glad I can finally follow HarshA's techy talk. I met two other cool interns there, one from Princeton and another in MCC, but soon to be in Rutgers!! RU RAH RAH RU...! They were...quirky in unique ways. haha. During my drive(s), I think about everything! Cause the drives are soooo long! I drove to work alone about 5 times, and one time I started rapping about everything I saw. I didn't know I was such a BEAST! haha... I decided I was going to spend my last days of summer previewing for Fall semester's classes...and also spend one day to have infinite joy and fun. BEACH, surf tacos, and Hoffman's ice cream with great friends...Gangnam Style! OP OP OP OP. Shortly after, I had to calm down and recover from sunburn. I don't go to the beach too often :( so I forgot to frequently put on sunscreen. Before I knew it, class started, and I was auditing lots of courses, thus listening to 6-7 lectures a day. = =  twas tiring and rewarding. I'm glad I skipped the Systems Programming night class on first week's Thursday...because I met zedrant+jj that night! They were like a breath of fresh air, a welcome relief that this year of school will be new and exciting.

I had this all organized in my head before I started writing...but it became a rant. perfect

Imminent Future:
September 11th...Happy Birthday WayneL, LillianC, and TommyC!
September 18th...Happy Birthday HarshA!
Looking forward to Lupe Fiasco's new album called Food&Liquor2! It has two parts, part 1 and part 2, and it will be released on Sept25.

Buh Bye

Will's Fall 2012 Schedule!

So I'm running 18 credits during Fall 2012 semester. For the Summer 2012 Session, I'm taking Analytical Physics 2a + Lab in the summer so I would not have 3 dreadful 3 hour labs during this semester! Also, I'm taking my Spring Semester's Programming Methodology 1 + Lab class in the summer, thus giving me more time in Spring. They will both be during Session 1, from May 29th to July 6th.

What else... I've chosen my two upper level humanities electives to be Social Psychology and Intermediate Microeconomics! I will be taking Intermediate Microeconomics next Spring, hence finishing up my humanities requirements. I'm also going to audit Data Structures and Intro to Business Statistics, and try to participate in some clubs, like TASA and KCCC? : ]

What else... I GOT AN A IN EXPOS last semester!!!
That is all.   : )

Will's Spring 2012 Schedule

So this is Will's official super-fantastic-extraordinary-but not that special... ...17 credit 2011 Spring Schedule at Rutgers. See below. My Byrne Seminar is called "How do you get into Carnegie Hall? The World of the Piano and Pianists" and it will be taught by Min Kwon! And the purple boxes label my Engineering Mechanics: Statics course. The statics course will be from 1:55pm to 2:50pm on all the days shown and will be in HILL-114 on Mondays and Wednesdays, but in SEC-202 on Fridays.

As of now, I'm steering full speed ahead towards a degree in Electrical Engineering. My required humanities electives are planned to be Intro to Macro, Intro to Micro, General Psychology. I haven't chosen my two required upper level electives though...; that will be on the to-do list. International Relations, as well as other courses I'm interested in taking, will be taken in the Summer, (please recommend any courses you guys/girls find interesting! I'll be sure to consider all recommendations :).
